To be fair, its not like that's a wrong way to do it. This game takes a more realistic approach to sexual encounters. I just feel that the advantage of VNs over other porn is in its ability to create extremely erotic and depraved situations through dialogue during the sex scenes. Much more than what would be natural or realistic. I prefer japanese VNs in that regard because they really have long ass conversations during the scenes. It's probably due to personal preference, but I like it when the dialogues are extensive during the scenes rather than the descriptive text and internal thoughts being the majority of it. The only slight detractor for me were the writing during the sex scenes. That way of developing surely makes it more streamlined and easier to manage for the devs so its not a bad thing. I believe its more or less +/- scenes rather than truely unique routes with wildly different story paths. I only played the harem route so not too sure how the choices impact the outcome. It flows quite a bit like a fantasy novel or something. You can tell right away that the writer is experienced in prose. Its amazing work! I LOVE the writing here. Its no different from Renpy other than missing rollback.Īs for the VN itself. Here, RPGM was utilized splendidly to create a nice VN platform. We know from other games that any kind of game can be made in any engine. However, I finally got around to playing the game, and its really wonderfully made. Well, in a way, it is still true that people that might otherwise try the game might pass up on it just because they see RPGM. Here some pictures of the application in attached files.Ĭlick to expand.I may have been premature in my quips about RPGM being a possible issue. Ren'py is currently not a good fit for the workload of Tyrant Quest which uses my own application that allows to port text via SQL files over RPGM (which I'm quite proud of ). So, in the end, there will be a VN Ren'Py game and a VN RPGM game. Now, I have already a Ren'Py game in the making, due to the 'backers', which will be totally different. It becomes tiring in the long run and causes negative thinking in me and I'll most likely stop participating for this reason and focus on other places as it's simply not interesting. They most likely either didn't like the game for what it is (which again won't change, would it be Ren'Py or RPGM, it will remain a VN and the same game), or just want to state their bias against RPGM in public, OR didn't play the game at all. Now, on F95 50%+ of the feedback is towards the use of RPGM by people that never talk about the actual game, or about the actual content or anything remotely close to the actual work that is put into the game. I got 0 feedback on the tech, it works, it's just a VN for them and all the feedback comes from either they like or not the story, scenes etc. People try the game, play it like a VN, hate or like the game for its content. ![]() I'll explain my thinking a bit without sharing too much private detail.į95 is the only place with that kind of thinking because it's pretty much the only place around with an actual RPGM tag and the bias that goes with it, most others place tag the game simply as 'VN', thus the bias doesn't exist.
